Business Recognition & Awards

The Chamber’s Business and Economic Development Committee sponsors the annual Business Start-Up Competition, selects and recognizes Business of the Month recipients, and the Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.

Large Business of the Year

Criteria • 50 employees or more • Be in business for more than three years • Be a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce

Small Business of the Year

Eligibility  • 50 employees or less • Be a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce

Woman of the Year

Eligibility • Lives or works in Haywood County • Company is a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce • Has been in her career for five years or more and has shown recent leadership initiative in the local business community.

Businesses are encouraged to apply directly for the award. In addition, associations, financial institutes, and other companies may nominate a business that meets the award requirements. Judging is done by a committee of experts after all applications have been received.

Entrepreneur of the Year

The Entrepreneur of the Year award is presented to a standout entrepreneur in Haywood County who is a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes an entrepreneur who has taken the risk of starting and running a business in Haywood County. Candidates for this award will be judged on business strategies, financial success, and community engagement.

Emerging Female Leader of the Year

Eligibility • Lives or works in Haywood County • Company is a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce • Has been in her career for five years or less and has shown recent leadership initiative in the local business community.

Business of the Month

The Haywood Chamber of Commerce recognizes the accomplishments, hard work, and leadership from our local businesses.

Faces of Haywood

Each month, the Haywood Chamber of Commerce selects an individual in the community to be recognized as the Face of Haywood. This individual or business embodies leadership in the community and is chosen by Chamber Ambassadors. Below, is the criteria for nominations. Each month, these individuals will be featured in Smoky Mountain News or the Mountaineer (depending on availability), the chamber’s weekly newsletter, and posted on the chamber’s social media!
