Evergreen Packaging appreciates the support of the North Carolina General Assembly and Governor McCrory for their endorsement of JMAC funding for the Evergreen Packaging plant in Haywood County. The approval of the grant by the North Carolina Economic Investment Committee in December 2014 will allow our facility to comply with new EPA regulations to improve our environmental footprint and keep quality jobs in the state. Evergreen Packaging is proud of our $51 million investment in Canton and we look forward to continuing our role as a successful, competitive Western North Carolina business’s top job creator for years to come.
“Evergreen is grateful for the support of the North Carolina General Assembly, the local government officials in Haywood County, and the Governor in passing the JMAC legislation. We are also appreciative of the Haywood Economic Development Council for partnering with us in discussions with representatives in the state and local government regarding the JMAC grant”, said Dane Griswold, General Manager of Evergreen-Canton/Waynesville North Carolina. The JMAC grant funding will allow Evergreen to become more environmentally-friendly and adapt to new Federal EPA standards. The JMAC grant will allow us to retrofit our boiler technology and will further our commitment to robust environmental stewardship”, said Griswold.
